Staff Recommendation

Approval for replacement of pented roof metal, repair in-kind of roof and skylights on late rear addition. Approval of Level II installation of skylights based on their not being visible from Luttrell and do not total more than 3% of roof surface.

Level l Replace damaged metal on pented roof in east gable. Repair roof on rear addition where sagging with in-kind materials and replace skylights in-kind.

Level ll The COA to "add skylights on rear roof planes, not visible from Luttrell" (see attached) was approved in 2007; however, the COA expired before this portion of the project could be completed. The currently proposed 9 square/rectangular, raised skylights will be visible from the rear public alley only to the degree that seasonal foilage allows. The 6 proposed for the north end will be more difficult to view from the alley than the 3 proposed for the south end. Specifications are attached.

5. Do not use solar collectors, modern skylights, or inappropriate structures on roof planes that are visible from the street. Do not install them where they interfere with decorative roof elements. If they are installed, they should not comprise more than 3% of the total roof surface.
