Level II. Replacement/repair

Demolition of non-contributing portions of designated structure, including block and frame garage and connector at rear of house and non-contributing, enclosed porch on rear ell, east elevation. The original structure, rear ell, and west wing, all of load-bearing brick construction, are to remain intact, as if the original front porch. Owner will exercise care in demolition in order not to undermine the original portions of the building.

Two story load bearing brick, three bay residence built in a T-shaped plan with two story original building (1849), rear two story ell (c.1849) and one story addition on west elevation (1859), additional contemporary (c.1960) additions on rear that are non-contributing, and altered, enclosed porch on rear ell, east elevation (c.1960). Original structure and rear ell and wing are common bond six course brick, gable end roofs. Brick foundation. Corbelled brick cornice. Interior end brick chimneys with corbelling on two story portion of house. Brick flue (c. 1960) on rear elevation, east section, of original house. Six pane wood double hung sashes with three rank division on façade. Arched brick lintels at downstairs façade windows flanking primary entrance with fanlight and sidelights. Fanlight atop entry on west wing (1859), with nine light half-view entrance door. Flat arched brick lintels on all other windows. Three-quarters one story front porch with shed roof, paired square wood columns with square bases. Columns are linked by square wood capitals that support arched wood trim marking each of the three porch bays. Oversize brackets appear on the porch roof overhang and are doubled at each pair of porch columns. Engaged pilasters mark the joining of the porch edges to the front façade. The enclosed c. 1960 porch that is located on the east façade of the rear ell, and the additional c.1960 rear addition that houses a two bay garage are of frame construction, with a concrete block foundation.


Owner also intends to remove overgrown weed trees and other growth around the house, some of which threaten the original structure, and all of which lend to its unkempt, vacant appearance and make the house more difficult to market.
