One -story full front porch with paired square fluted wood posts on brick piers, sawn wood balustrade. One-story projecting bay on south elevation. Two interior offset brick chimneys. Irregular plan. STAFF FINDINGS
1. The door opening proposed to be enlarged is on the rear kitchen/porch addition and will not be visible from the right-of-way.

2. The current door is a half-light door with two panels below and appears to be of the same period as the later kitchen addition in which it is located. The door is not of particular historic significance, but should be salvaged.

3. The new doors will be more modern in appearance, but either option of style will be compatible with that of the house. The proposed material, size and scale are also compatible with that of the house.

4. The entry opening is not being removed or relocated, only enlarged.

5. The proposed entry doors are informal and appropriate for a secondary entrance.

OLD NORTH KNOX DESIGN GUIDELINES: (entered into record in their entirety)
D. ENTRANCES p. 19
4. A replacement entrance shall not create a false historic appearance. A new entrance must be compatible in size and material.

5. Entrances must not be removed when rehabilitating a building; adaptation to new uses must include the original entrance.

6. Service (rear) entrances may not be altered to make them appear to be formal entrances by adding six-paneled doors, fanlights, transoms or sidelights.

7. Secondary entrances must be compatible with the original in size, scale and materials, but clearly secondary in importance.
