Site Info

Craftsman (c.1915)

One story frame with weatherboard wall covering and shingles in front gable. Central telescoping gabled roof with asphalt shingle covering, knee braces. Six (unevenly divided lights) over one double hung windows. One story full front porch with large splayed wood posts on brick piers, brick buttresses at porch steps. Exterior side brick chimney. Brick foundation. Rectangular plan.

The exterior side chimney leans substantially. The house inspection recommended that the chimney be repaired or removed to remove the safety hazard posed by the chimney. This exterior side chimney is a defining characteristic of Craftsman design. Purchasers of the house wish to retain this original feature, although rebuilding it may not be their primary concern following purchase. Commission may wish to work with them to determine a time frame for removal and rebuilding of the chimney, allowing them to mitigate the current hazard by a partial removal; however, that negotiation should occur with the new owner.
