Mr. Vaughen received a Certificate of Appropriateness No. 102799EDG two years ago; the work items covered by that Certificate involved constructing a new basement and constructing a rear addition. Since that time, the applicant has nearly completed the new basement/full height foundation. The house has been jacked up, with new foundation built and the house lowered. Plastic sheeting can still be found around the exterior basement wall because there are minor details that remain to be completed in the final design, but the foundation work is primarily complete. One of the details remaining to be determined is providing access to the basement, which is addressed by this application. Mr. Vaughen has considered further his originally proposed design for the rear façade, and has deterined that the current design is more appropriate for the house's existing architecture, and better addressed design issues on the interior.
