NOTE: Commission initially approved construction of garage but requested that type of siding not be specified, pending additional inquiry by applicant. At the September 21 meeting, following a report on action by Mechanicsville to request approval of Hardiplank on SECONDARY buildings ONLY, Commission approved the use of Hardiplank on applicant's garage.

Two story frame with weatherboard wall covering. Hip roof with lower cross gables, asphalt shingle roof covering and rectangular attic window. One story hip roofed full front porch with short truncated wood posts on brick piers, sawn wood balustrade. One over one double hung windows. Two interior offset brick chimneys. Brick foundation. Cutaway bay window on side elevation. Irregular plan.


Mechanicsville Design Guidelines on page 14: "One story outbuldings of simple design may be constructed to the rear of lots in Mechanicsville. They should have shed or front gable roofs and may have wall coverings of wood weatherboard or vinyl or aluminum siding with a four inch lap pattern or be board and batten." However, the precendent of this board has been to approve only wood siding. Hardi-plank is acceptable aesthetically, and consistent with the design guidelines, but has never been approved for Mechanicsville.
