New construction

New Craftsman-style residence approved by Historic Zoning Commission at March 19, 2020 meeting.

1. The new house, including window specifications and placement, at 4002 Tazewell Pike was approved by the Knoxville Historic Zoning Commission at the March 2020 meeting.

2. Building codes require bedrooms to have a window to provide egress; the applicant is requesting the installation of paired windows on each side gable field. The paired windows will reflect the design, size, materials, and trim of the windows approved for the first story. The three-over-one, double-hung, fiberglass windows are appropriate for new construction built in the Craftsman style. Additional windows provide transparency and visual interest to the gable fields which were previously large swaths of siding.
