Site Info

Queen Anne with Neoclassical influence (c.1910)

One and one-half story frame with weatherboard and aluminum siding wall covering. Hip roof with lower cross gables and turret over enclosed front porch, asphalt shingel roof covering. Front gable with arched recess containing Palladian-style window with diamond panes on side sashes. One story enclosed two thirds front and side wrap around front porch with knee braces at added portico at front entry. Two interior offset side brick chimneys. Brick foundation with some stucco and concrete block between brick piers on front elevation. Irregular plan. Suggestive of Plan No. 331, George F. Barber's Modern Dwellings.

Modification was made necessary as the rehabilitation proceeded. Reuse of the additions while making them consistent with the original architecture has been a design problem. Demolition of the bath addition, rebuilding the original back porch and the small back porch addition are solutions consistent with the original architecture. The changes will provide space for modernizing the interior of the house. They are not visible from Washington Avenue.
