Approve installation of wood-framed shed roof covering with asphalt shingles over southwest side door based on design guidelines.
Add wood frame shed roof overhang 16 inches x 6 feet wide with asphalt shingles over previously approved (10-21-2010) southwest side door. The overhang will have a beadboard ceiling and be supported by triple-planked decorative brackets similar to the submitted photograph. Fascia of roof overhang will be faced with trim to match that existing on the house.
Add wood frame shed roof covering with asphalt shingles over side door
FINDINGS:
1) The house was relocated from outside into the district in 2006 and has previously reviewed as new construction since its move. The southwest side door was approved by the Commission on 10/21/2010.
2) The roof overhang is proposed for an inconpicuous side toward the rear of the house which will not be easily visible from the right-of-way.
3) The proposed materials of wood framing, asphalt shingles, beadboard and wood trim match those of the house.
4) Small shed roof overhangs are typical over service doors on historic houses.
