APPROVE Certificate No. 12706MKT. Awnings are provided in the Market Square Design Guidelines (pg. 20, 1-3) that are consistent with the design applied for. Guideline #4 (projection from building) is discussed below.

Vernacular Commercial (c.1880)

Two story four bay brick with corbelled cornice, rowlock arched windows with corbelled surrounds on second story with six light metal casement windows and arched casement. Altered c. 1970 storefront. Windows added on south façade in 2000.

Guideline at pg. 20, #4 provides that the standard street level awning should project 4-7 feet from the face of the building. The current awning at 12 Market has a projection greater than 7 feet. In addition, the modifications to sidewalk width installed several years ago provide a wider walkway than 7 feet, and anticipate that covered outdoor spaces for dining will be included at restaurants fronting on Market Square. The proposed awning depth of 10' is recommended for approval.
