Guttering; Masonry repair/painting; Porch elements; Roofing; Siding; Windows

Roof using asphalt shingles; install gutters; point masonry as necessary using Preservation Brief No. 2; rebuild chimney from roof up, copying original with corbelled top; rebuild front porch with original columns, tongue & groove flooring replacement as necessary, beadboard ceiling (front and rear porch ceilings), reinstall original second story front porch railing; repair or replace wood siding duplicating the original; repair windows as necessary; repair soffit with identical design and fascia boards with identical design, if necessary.

One and one-half story frame with weatherboard wall covering. Steeply pitched hip roof with asphalt shingle covering, sawn wood attic vet, and gabled attic dormer on front elevation facing second story balcony with turned balustrade and posts. Double hung one over one windows. One story three-quarter front porch with round wood columns with Doric capitals. Two interior offset brick chimneys Brick foundation. Irregular plan. Recessed transom at front entry door. Projecting bays on north and south elevations.


This house has become extremely deteriorated since Old North Knoxville was designated H-1. The work proposed by applicant meets the conditions of the Old North Knoxville Design Guidelines. Commission is asked to RATIFY Certficate No. 112502ONK, but also to be aware that applicant has received numerous certificates to restore this house.
