Porch elements; Roofing

Replacing old asphalt shingles with asphalt shingles; install storm windows; replace front porch tongue in groove flooring as needed; rebuild front porch roof to correct uneven surface, retaining the same design; replace front porch railing with 2"x2" on 5" centers set into top and bottom rail; remove artificial siding from rear elevation, replacing with wood if necessary; tuckpoint remaining central chimney using a low Portland content mortar.

One story frame with weatherboard wall covering. Hip roof with lower cross gables, asphalt shingle covering and sawn wood shingles in gables. Double hung two over two windows. One story full front porch with replacement square wood columns with Doric capitals, sawn wood balustrade and original turned engaged pilasters. Two brick chimneys, both interior offset. Brick with stucco foundation. Irregular plan. Projecting bay window on south elevation.


Commission is asked to RATIFY Certificate No. 102302ONK. Commission is asked to note that applicant was originally working without a certificate or permit. A neighborhood resident was concerned because one of the chimneys was no longer standing. When asked, applicant indicated that the chimney had fallen, and then agreed to repoint the chimney still standing, as well as do other work to the front porch and the remainder of the house that is consistent with the design guidelines.
