COVID-19 Updates

May 1, 2020 | More News

We have resumed face-to-face service.

Updated August 27, 2020

Planning entered into Phase 2 of our return to work plan on June 1. New standards include staggered scheduling of on-site staff, setting parameters for interacting with the public, including in-person meetings, and other aspects of work-related activities. Our primary goal is to protect the health of Planning employees and the public while ensuring that our work is being done.

During this phase we have increased staffing at our front counter. Measures have been taken to protect counter staff and the public, including:

All staff are continuing to use email, telephone, and virtual meetings to communicate with the public as much as possible to avoid in-person meetings. When in-person meetings are necessary, they will take place only if proper physical distancing can be maintained.

*These measures were crafted with guidance from the City of Knoxville, Knox County, and the Knox County Health Department. Planning will continue to operate by these standards during Phase 2 of their joint strategy for phased reopening, which has been extended until September 30. If certain COVID-19 case metrics fail to meet standards, that period may be extended. Planning will employ an equally flexible time frame for our Phase 3 operations.
