COVID-19 Updates

May 1, 2020 | More News

We continue to provide face-to-face service at our Planning Services counter.

Updated November 23, 2020

Planning has made adjustments to our operating plan. New standards include additional reductions in the number of on-site staff, staggered scheduling of staff, setting parameters for interacting with the public, and other aspects of work-related activities. Our primary goal is to protect the health of Planning employees and the public while ensuring that our work is being done.

While our customer service counter remains open, staff will be limited, and no customers will be permitted beyond that point. Measures have been taken to protect counter staff and the public, including:

All staff are continuing to use email, telephone, and virtual meetings to communicate with the public as much as possible to avoid in-person meetings. People needing in-person assistance are encouraged to make appointments with staff (contact information available here). No large in-person meetings will be held at this point.

*These measures were crafted with guidance from the City of Knoxville, Knox County, the Knox County Health Department, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Planning will continue to operate by these standards until January 18, 2021. If certain COVID-19 case metrics fail to meet local guidelines for public safety, that period may be extended further.
