"I was so glad to see that parts of Fountain City Park haven't changed since my days there. Those old metal slides bring back some great memories!"

Wampler joined MPC last month as the new Smart Trips Coordinator. Smart Trips is a regional organization that promotes alternatives to driving alone and helps commuters find carpool partners, explore bike and transit routes, and save money on gas.

In addition to handling the day-to-day opeartions of the program, Wampler looks forward to using her communication and marketing skills to spread the word about Smart Trips and help others consider commuting options that are healthier?for themselves and the environment. She’ll recruit new Smart Trips participants by attending health fairs, connecting with people through social media, and engaging the press.

"I love Knoxville and am excited to be working with a program to make it a healthier place to live. Our city is beautiful--we need to keep it that way!"

After graduating from Central High School, Wampler earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications from East Tennessee State University. She worked for The Daily Times in Maryville and newspapers in Central Virginia as an editor and columnist before returning home.

When she's not out and about promoting Smart Trips, she's likely to be taking a group fitness class at the gym or on the playground with her two boys, Declan and Simon, and her husband, Paul.

Welcome to the team, Christi!
