Proposed City of Knoxville Zoning Code Reorganization

The City of Knoxville and the Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC) are hosting two public meetings regarding the proposed reorganization of Article 4 and Article 7 of the city’s zoning ordinance.

Artilce 4 is being reorganized to group four types of districts together: base, planned development, overlay, and form districts. It provides an opportunity to describe general provisions common to each type of district, and to put new districts in a logical place rather than adding them to the end of the current list.

Article 7 consolidates all of the review and action authorities that are referenced throughout the code into a central place.

The first meeting was held at 7 p.m., Monday, June 16, in the Small Assembly Room of the City County Building and focused on familiarizing the public with the proposed changes as well as allowing for public comment on the changes.

The second meeting, for further discussion of the issues, is scheduled for 7 p.m., Monday, July 7, in the Small Assembly Room.

A draft of the suggested revisions are available below. These files were updated on Friday, June 20 reflecting public input received at the June 16 meeting.
